Quality, format and audio

Dailymotion encodes most videos in H.264 MP4 at four standard rungs: 380p, 480p, 720p and 1080p. dlyt.io selects 1080p when it is offered and falls back gracefully otherwise. Audio extraction yields MP3 at 128 kbps from the same source manifest.

Older uploads — especially from before Dailymotion's 2018 platform refresh — may only have 360p and 480p versions available. There is nothing dlyt.io can do to recover quality that was never encoded in the first place.

What is not supported

  • Age-gated contentVideos marked 18+ require an authenticated, age-verified session and are not reachable through the public endpoint.
  • Region-locked contentA small number of music videos and rights-managed clips are restricted by region. If Dailymotion will not play the video in your country, dlyt.io cannot fetch it either.
  • Private videosAnything marked private is intentionally out of scope.
